I am fully committed to overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Weill Center for Metabolic Health. Prior to joining the Center, I had an independent research lab. The goal of my laboratory was to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying pancreatic islet dysfunction and discover means to preserve and improve pancreatic beta-cell function in diabetes. In particular, we wanted to understand how excess lipids contribute to the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes.
