Collaboration

A key purpose of the Center is to serve as a hub for innovation through collaboration with clinical and research colleagues across the Weill Cornell Medicine community, including the Comprehensive Weight Control Center , iChange clinic, Cornell University’s Division of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Human Ecology, Rockefeller University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Our state-of-the-art Metabolic Phenotyping Center allows researchers to comprehensively quantify metabolic analytes in human clinical trial samples as well as rodent blood samples, and a variety of parameters in mouse models, critical to interpreting how experimental interventions impact metabolism. Education

We are dedicated to mentoring outstanding trainees at all levels of career development to build the workforce for the metabolism pioneers of tomorrow. We operate a variety of programs geared towards training, including our NIH funded Postdoctoral T32 in Endocrinology and Metabolism, which trains MD, MD/PhD, or PhD scientists towards their first career development award application; faculty training in mentoring; junior faculty mentoring committees; faculty assistance in postdoctoral hiring; and support for groups inviting summer internship students to their laboratory.

Seminars

The centerpiece of our vibrant community are our weekly seminars, which are robustly attended by senior scientists and a full range of trainees alike. Our seminars feature a rotation of top-tier international invited speakers interspersed with regional and internal work-in-progress sessions that celebrate local advances and boost collaboration.

Research

Center research ranges from pancreatic islet biology to vascular therapeutics, from stem-cell-based high content screening to adipogenesis, from fatty liver disease to systemic metabolism impact on cancer growth. By bringing all these skills and passions into the same conversation, we can truly make a difference in metabolic disease.
