2) Laboratory of Dr. Annarita Di Lorenzohttps://vivo.weill.cornell.edu/display/cwid-and2039

The laboratory of Dr. Annarita Di Lorenzo studies the molecular basis of sphingolipid metabolism derangements in cardiometabolic disorders, by using specific genetic deletion of enzymes, transporters, and receptors of sphingolipids, and a novel model of coronary atherosclerosis. Studies in animal models are complemented by cell and molecular biology studies, biochemistry, lipidomics, and transcriptomics.

Applicants should hold a PhD or MD/PhD degree with less than two years of postdoctoral experience. Preferred expertise includes but is not limited to cellular and molecular biology; FACS analysis, transcriptomics and lipidomics.

Mouse experience is welcomed but not necessary.

Ideal candidates must have good written/oral communications skills, a strong ability to work effectively in a team environment, be highly organized, with a proven record of research accomplishments. The candidate is expected to participate in research postdoctoral grant preparations, manuscript writing and presentation of research results at professional conferences.

The laboratory is well-funded and is located in one of the most dynamic research environments in New York city, and part of the Cardiovascular Research Institute and Feil Family Brain & Mind Research Institute. The lab also takes advantage of active scientific interactions with research community at nearby Rockefeller University and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, therefore offering many exciting opportunities for career development.

Candidates should submit electronically CV, list of publications, short description of their scientific interests, career goals and contact information of two references to Dr. Annarita Di Lorenzo (and2039@med.cornell.edu).

3) Laboratory of Dr. James Lohttps://www.jameslolab.org

The Lo Laboratory at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows. We aim to understand the basic mechanisms underlying cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, including diabetes, obesity, and cardiac arrhythmias. Our NIH-funded lab uses a combination of state-of-the-art molecular techniques to complement mouse and human models of disease.

Candidates should have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Most importantly, candidates should be creative, independent, and dedicated to building a research career. Research experience in metabolism, cardiovascular system, pancreatic islet biology, and mouse physiology is preferred. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of scientists and will have an opportunity to develop their own project as well as contribute to many exciting ongoing research projects within the lab.

Please send a CV (no more than three pages), a description of prior research experience and accomplishments, career goals and references with expected availability date in a single PDF file to: jlo@med.cornell.edu. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.

4) Laboratory of Dr. Shuibing Chen: https://www.chen-stemcell-lab.com/

We seek highly motivated individuals with a proven research track record to join Chen Laboratory at Center for Genomic Health at Weill Cornell Medicine. We are eager to create a multidisciplinary, highly interactive environment with chemists, biologists, engineers, and bioinformatician, and to develop or apply emerging technologies to address critical issues in the area of Stem Cell Biology and Translational Research. Specific projects will be discussed and tailored towards individual interests and training background.

Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: development biology, stem cell and regenerative biology, chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology, bioinformatics and machine learning, or related fields. Please send Curriculum Vitae, a summary of the previous research experience and the future research interest, and the contact information for three references to shc2034@med.cornell.edu.

5) Laboratory of Dr. Mary Teruel: teruellab.org

The Teruel Lab uses quantitative fluorescence imaging, cell biological approaches and mouse models to study the interplay between adipose tissue, pancreatic beta cells, and muscle tissue, and their dysregulation in obesity, diabetes and prolonged stress conditions.  Current projects build on work published in Ahrends et al. Science 2014, PMID:24948735; Bahrami-Nejad et al. Cell Metabolism 2018PMID:29617644; Zhao et al. Cell Reports 2020PMID:32553172; Tholen et al. Cell Reports 2022, PMID:35767959; Zhang et al. PNAS 2022, PMID:35939672; Bahrami-Nejad et al. PLOS Biology 2022, PMID: 36469503; Kudo et al. Cell Systems 2023 37995680.

You will be joining an effort we recently started centered on a parallel in vitro, organoid, and mouse model strategy to understand a pressing obesity problem how stress-induced flattening of daily glucocorticoid oscillations can initially lead to reversible adipose tissue expansion, hyperinsulinemia, a shift from muscle to fat mass, and later development of persistent obesity and insulin resistance. A second project focuses on what is arguably one of the most fundamental problems of all differentiation processes how and why circadian rhythms, the cell cycle, and differentiation are closely coupled to control tissue size. We are particularly interested in using 3D organoid models and adapting methodology we developed to track the full differentiation, proliferation, and circadian rhythm processes live in thousands of individual cells. Visit our lab website to find out more: meyerteruellabs.org.

The Teruel Lab is located in newly renovated space. Our lab has multiple state-of the art, ultrafast microscopes setup for long-term, as well as super-resolution, live-cell imaging and photolithography to micropattern matrix to generate in vitro organoid models. We are part of an exceptional academic environment with opportunities for interdisciplinary and collaborative work within Weill Cornell/Cornell University, Rockefeller University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate should hold a PhD. and/or M.D./Ph.D. degree or equivalent. Expertise in mouse physiology, quantitative image analysis, or fluorescence microscopy are a plus. Most importantly, the candidate should be interested in learning different technologies as these interdisciplinary projects may involve molecular biology, 3D cell culture, organoids, mouse models, quantitative microscopy, live-cell imaging, or image analysis.

Please send a cover letter and CV, including three references, to Dr. Mary Teruel at mnt4002@med.cornell.edu.

Salary Range is: $67,000 - $71,000.
